Brian Buckley is a career educator (teacher, principal, superintendent) who understands and truly values how arts deepen and extend a human being's relationship with the world.  That understanding was strengthened when Mark Vance mentored his children in music and composition while they were in high school.  Early on Brian discovered he had better skills as an audience member than as a musician or composer,  and  realized he could contribute more as a supporter of the arts than as an artist.  Thus, he spends his time on the NCCC board trying to maintain composer(s). He has also served at various times as Executive Director and a Board Member of the Nevada County Arts Council, and on the Boards of the Friendship Club and the North Columbia School House Cultural Center.  He currently is active as a Big Brother, as a KVMR broadcaster, and with the Sacramento County Office of Education Leadership Institute as a teacher/coach for educators earning their administrative credentials.  Being a retiree of a certain age, he also likes to play golf.
